Create & Yay is thrilled to have joined hands with the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) and Island Eastern Corridor Boardwalk JV (IECB JV) on the East Coast Boardwalk (東岸板道), a visionary transformation of Hong Kong Island’s harbourfront. 

The East Coast Boardwalk

The Boardwalk stretches 2.2 km beneath the Island Eastern Corridor. When fully open, it will complete a continuous 13 km shoreline promenade, creating new recreational spaces and connecting communities from Kennedy Town to Shau Kei Wan by the end of 2025. With the opening of the Boardwalk’s western section in early 2025, Create & Yay infused meaning and playfulness into every touchpoint to spark public engagement and bring vibrant energy to the Boardwalk’s journey.

The Idea & Branding

Our branding adopts the “Citywave” concept which reflects the dynamic movement of waves and the vibrancy of the city (準備好踏上海岸). We designed a logo and icons, and assigned different colours to the eight themed sections, making navigation intuitive.

Thematic Video

To bring the tagline “The Seamless Boardwalk linking Island West and East” (一板貫通 暢踏西東) to life, we created a thematic video centered on “Step”. The video invites viewers to “step onto the wave”, highlighting the Boardwalk’s innovative design and the joy of experiencing the harbourfront via Eastern District landmarks, while celebrating local culture along the way.

Community Liaison Centre (CLC) Enhancement & Roving Exhibition 

We transformed the CLC into a wave-themed interactive hub (海浪遊樂場) with creative exteriors, immersive installations, and art-inspired play zones to educate and engage the public. A roving exhibition extended this playful wave spirit to the community. Special thanks to our partners, Wilson Lee from the Community Liaison Centre and Match Chen from the Roving Exhibition, for their trust and support.

Social Media 

We managed the official social media page for the East Coast Boardwalk CLC. It serves as a platform to connect citizens, encourage participation and celebrate the evolving waterfront.

Event Curation 

We curated educational workshops and guided tours to enhance public understanding of the Boardwalk and promote local culture through community engagement.
