In an ongoing mission to reimagine the aesthetic of Tim Ho Wan’s (添好運) flagship Sham Shui Po store, Kids & Dogs presented the third chapter of its visual transformation: the 「咁港至夠味道」 campaign.
The Idea: Cantonese, in Ink
This unique initiative delved into the vibrant soul of Hong Kong culture through its most colourful asset—Cantonese slang. Words like 㤿憸 (picky) and 熱䪚䪚 (piping hot) are more than just colloquialisms; they are a testament to the creativity, wit, and expressive power of the Cantonese language.
The Art of Everyday Expression
To honour this linguistic heritage, we partnered with the renowned calligraphy master, Wah Gor (華戈). Together, we curated an exquisite collection of Chinese calligraphy that transformed these everyday slang words into works of art. Each piece reflects the playful nature and vivid energy of the language, capturing the authentic spirit of Hong Kong.
The Elevated Experience
These elegant calligraphic works were integrated into the dining experience at Tim Ho Wan, offering guests a dual feast for the senses. Patrons could savour dim sum that is 「熱䪚䪚」 (piping hot) and 「香馩馩」 (fragrantly delicious) while immersing themselves in the traditional art of calligraphy.
Weaving a Hong Kong Narrative
The 「咁港至夠味道」 campaign seamlessly melded the refined elegance of calligraphy with the dynamic character of Cantonese slang and the beloved culinary tradition of dim sum. It built upon the foundation of our previous collaborations—first with local comic artist Stella So, and later with graffiti artist Uncle’s dragon-themed Lunar New Year artwork—to create a layered and authentically Hong Kong narrative.
